Foraging Hike June 6, 2021 at Swan Point Cemetery
PROVIDENCE —Join Women’s Wilderness Weekend Sunday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. for “Wilderness in the City,” a foraging hike through Swan Point Cemetery, among the foremost garden cemeteries in the U.S.
Erin Seelenbrandt, Wilder – Cultivated/Collected will lead a foraging hike through Swan Point, Providence’s hidden gem, at 565 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, RI.
Erin will lead the group through the wooded areas of the cemetery teaching them about native plants and their uses. There will be a picnic lunch break, BYOS (bring your own sandwich) followed by a demonstration.
During the demonstration, Erin will show how to make a salve using materials gathered during the hike. The event will last till 3 p.m.
Women’s Wilderness Class Coordinator Sandy Tissiere, also a member of the Foraging Southern New England facebook group, thought up this hike to appeal to fellow foraging enthusiasts. She asked group members for a volunteer to lead the foraging foray. Seelenbrandt, also a member of the foraging group, stepped up.
This event is limited to 10 people and there is a $10.00 fee. All women 18+ are invited to join. Sign up early to reserve your spot.
